Corn is a great companion to get switchgrass started as it will provide a great balance of sun, shade, and vertical cover to get the area off and running! This is an update of an area in which I frost seeded switchgrass on Thanksgiving Day 2020. After two glyphosate treatments in May I drilled corn with a Genesis 3 no till drill on June 10, 2021, and then fertilized with 15-5-28-6 once the rains started in late August. The result is this beautiful stand of first year Cave in Rock switchgrass from Northwoods Whitetails. Try it!
